Step by Step Direction for Thin Crust Pizza Dough

Ready with all the ingredients and equipment? If yes, now just follow our steps to get the best results.

Step 1 of 4: Mixing The Dough

Firstly, the water we will use has to be a maximum of 105°-110°F warm. Higher temperature water can’t be used because it will kill the yeast.

The next step is gonna be the mixing process. We will need all our main ingredients here. You know, using a mixer will speed up the process.

Now, add flour, sugar, yeast to the food processor and pulse 4 to 5 times. When the mixer is running, slowly pour the lukewarm water into the mixing bowl. Continue the process until the dough clumps.

If your dough doesn’t begin to clump, pour one tablespoon of water at a time. Continue the process for about 15-20 seconds until no dry flour remains.

Then let the dough relax for 10 minutes. Furthermore, combine oil and salt, then process it for another minute. When the mixing is done, take the dough out.

Now, place the dough on a plain surface and knead it with oiled hands for 1-2 minutes. Form the dough into a ball shape.

Step 2 of 4: Age The Dough

Put the dough ball into an oiled bowl and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Leave the bowl in a warm place for 2 hours so the dough rises.

Then knead your bloated dough once again. Then wrap the bowl and set it in the refrigerator for 24 hours. It is an important part as time makes the dough enough moist. This way the dough will develop the proper taste.

Step 3 of 4: Roll & Shape The Dough

Place the dough out of the refrigerator at least an hour ago before using it. Meanwhile, preheat your oven for an hour at 500°-550°F.

Now, take a piece of dough similar to grapefruit size. Resize your dough into a ball. Dust the surface and the ball with flour. Flatten the ball with your hands. Continue the process until it becomes ½” thick and 8” in diameter.

Then use the rolling pin to roll the crust to make it about ⅛” thick. Roll the dough until it’s large enough to set in your pizza pan. Remember to spread more flour if the dough sticks to the surface.

Step 4 of 4: Pre-bake Thin-Crust for Texture

So, set the crust to the pizza pan and leave it to relax for 3 minutes. Then perforate every square inch of the dough with a fork.

Now, put the crust in the oven to prebake it. Bake for 3 minutes. If you find any bubble rising from the crust, pop that right away.

Now that the crust-making process is done, add topping and cheese to the crust. That’s it!

Why Should I Add Olive Oil to My Pizza Dough?

Adding olive oil to the dough helps facilitate the union of protein. It allows the formation of more homogeneous elastic dough. Also, It adds extra fragrance to the dough.

What Do You Put on The Bottom of The Pizza Crust?

We usually use cornmeal or flour on the button of the crust. These help to prevent the dough from getting stuck in the pan or stove. So always remember to sprinkle some flour into the pan or on the crust.
